Twicon Vegas/Ottiwa CANCELED

I'm afraid I'm the giver if bad news today and I'm so sorry for that. Twicon 2010 Vegas/Ottiwa have been canceled, due to an economic downfall. You can read the whole statement from Becky Scoggins and staff, below.

------------------------------------------

March 13, 2010 – After much thought, deliberation and best intentions to survive, TwiCon Partners LLC has made the difficult decision to cease operations. Competitive pressures, coupled with the persistent nature of the economic downturn, have necessitated this action. Both of the scheduled 2010 TwiCon events have been cancelled as a result of today’s decision.

Ticketholders will receive a formal notice from TwiCon with instructions at the address listed in their ticket purchase information.

The staff at TwiCon worked very hard to make the events a success and TwiCon would like to thank everyone for their support. This decision was not an easy one and we apologize sincerely for the inconvenience. Becky Scoggins, a co-owner and manager of TwiCon Partners, LLC, will be on hand on the TwiCon ning site for the next several days to answer questions and concerns to the best of her ability.

Thank you for the support and may the love of all things vampire continue to bring us all together.

Regards,

TwiCon Partners, LLC

This kind of pisses me off becasue I had everything planned, now I'm thinking I'm going anyway. I have friends I was going to meet and this isn't going to stop me. I want my week and i'll get it one way or the other.
What do you all have to say about this? Are you still going to Vegas to party without twicon? Leave a comment and please let us know.

I love how they cite, 'economic downfall.' They only sold 300-350 of the 5000 tickets they had available for the conventions (Ottawa/Las Vegas). That's a mere 6-7% of the tickets sold 3 months before the event. This, in spite of the fact, that Creation's Twi-Tours are doing booming business.

That's not 'economic downfall.' That's a reflection on the fact that Dallas was a fiasco and, this year, the fans voted with their wallets and elected to attend a different convention.

Las Vegas will continue to party, and HARD, without Twicon in attendance. I hope you enjoy your week in sin city!!

To JD: I agree 110%, last year was horrible, but for some God forsaken reason my best friend talking me into going to that and now I'm out 399 dollars. Which I'm extremely pissed about. I won't got to anything unless it says summit entertainment or comic con. I will be parting hard in sin city though. Thanks for the comment.
